1: Find the Node First
A cutting only becomes a new plant if it includes at least one node — the growth joint where roots and new shoots actually form. A leaf or stem section with no node attached usually can't propagate on its own, no matter how healthy it looks.
2: Rooting Isn't the Finish Line
A cutting can root successfully and still die during the transition to soil or outdoor conditions. Fast roots grown in ideal conditions aren't always strong roots — harden off gradually, especially when moving a cutting from indoor rooting to real outdoor climate.
